[For the Record: GUYS AND DOLLS OBC is in my Ipod from start to finish. Not a Nathan Lane fan, there is no reason to put his version in my machine. GREY GARDENS (I can’t believe I’m going to say this), I have come to understand, I don’t really like. I saw the show and was so mesmerized by the performances that I didn’t realize that I wasn’t into the score. A lot of the songs in Act One irritate me because they don’t further the storyline – they are just songs that are put into the show for Big Edie to entertain and be silly with – and they are racially offensive. Although I find some of the songs in Act One to be musically theater functional, I really don’t see it in that many – while Act Two has more character driven songs. I also listened to this cd saying “damn, they sure sing about a lot of food in this show.” I’ll tell you what, though, I left some of those non functional, food item listing songs in my Ipod because I will listen to Christine Ebersole sing anything. I couldn’t take Jerry Likes My Corn, though, God, I hate that fuckin song. GREENWILLOW – I never put the whole cd in my Ipod, only Never Will I Marry. Getting to know it will be an upcoming task for me. GREASE – I put in the revival cast album and ONLY the Sam Harris, Megan Mullally, Hunter Foster tracks. GRAND HOTEL (starring a young Jane Krakowski) is genius and I listen to it, from start to finish, often. Elaine Stritch did GOLDILOCKS and it is a score I’ve always liked, so I left it all in my Ipod. GODSPELL, the OBC, is complete here.]
