My Musical Theater Voyage of Discovery; The Letter H

Well there are no unknown musicals in my H section but there are a lot of shows I already know, so…

[For the Record: HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS WITHOUT REALLY TRYING is represented in my Ipod (mostly) by the OBC, which I grew up with. I did a little cutting because, honestly, there are one or two songs that I have never really clung to – but, mostly, it’s all intact. As far as the Matthew Broderick Megan Mullally revival goes, I left in a couple of those numbers, particularly fun ones like It’s Been a Long Day or Paris Original. Can’t take up room in the Ipod with the same songs over and over – so the OBC got the most play time. HIGH SPIRITS is a show that is sweet but that I never really got into – I would, actually, like to revisit it and see if it speaks to me more, now, than it did when I was younger. There are a couple of tunes in my Ipod from that show, while HIGH SOCIETY is almost fully represented. I grew up with that movie and love those songs and even though the production was pretty bad, on Broadway, I do like the cast album. I like anything Randy Graff and John McMartin do, anyway. HIGH BUTTON SHOES, I don’t really get into – though one or two of the tunes are fun, so I kept them. HENRY SWEET HENRY is a strange one for me. I don’t know if it was hit or miss but I like listening to this album, especially the very belty Alice Pleyton. HANS ANDERSON is a West End production that starred Sally Ann Howes – and all Sally Ann Howes is in my Ipod, so mostly hers are the numbers I play. I trimmed down HAIRSPRAY because, and I have to be honest here, I don’t like Marissa Jarret Winokur. Harvey Fierstein is fun; I left in all of Matthew Morrison’s numbers and some of the other character’s numbers but if I want to listen to a more complete score, I’ll go to the movie soundtrack. HAIR is a cd that is in my Ipod in its’ entirety. ]
