My Musical Theater Voyage of Discovery; The GYPSY Dossier

It is hailed by many as the best musical ever. I am no expert, so I won’t say anything about that. I will say, though, that just about every major recording is in my Ipod. I have the entire Ethel Merman recording except the overture. I have all of the Angela Lansbury recording except the Overture and All I Need is the Girl. I have most of the Tyne Daly recording, having cut All I Need is the Girl and Little Lamb. I have all of the Bernadette Peters recording, from start to finish. I have all of the Patti LuPone recording (I would have cut the overture for space limitations, but it is a little different on this recording; and I loved Laura Benanti & Boyd Gaines in the show). I have the movie soundtrack, including Rosalind Russell’s original vocals; and I have the Better Midler soundtrack. I also have a few random audio bootlegs from productions that starred Judy Kaye, Linda Lavin and Dolores Gray. It is fair to say, one could go into GYPSY overload listening to my Ipod.
