Diva's Rule

I found this funny little blurb in my Facebook blog archive. It was originally written on February 7, 2009

Today Pat and I went to the Lucille Lortel Theater to see the new Charles Busch play THE THIRD STORY. I want to say: Charles, when he is onstage, makes me gasp. I believe he is so under appreciated by this community. He is a treasure who should be lifted up and shown off and told how great he is, how loved he is, like, every freakin day. He is a brilliant actor and we need to love him more, more, more!

I also want to say that my love affair with the one and the only Miss Kathleen Turner continues. She is the very living end. I have loved her from the moment I saw her, I have a personal history with her and The Sweater Book; I will not permit anyone to badmouth Miss Turner in my presence. She is a great American actress and today she moved me to tears simply by sitting still and reacting.

Living in this city is such a joy.

Here is the story I want to share, other than to say, get your asses to the theater and worship at the altars of these divas.

Just before the play started, I observed: "This place is filled with nothing but old people and queens.

"Pat replied, most calmly: "We're at a Saturday matinee of a play by Charles Busch, starring Kathleen Turner, in a theater in the village..."
