Stephen Mapplethorpe

I am now a true artist.

I have been censored.

I had some photos done recently - some beautiful new pictures of me done by the great Thomas Synnamon. In the photos, I am nude. Some of them are very tasteful and some are very erotic. Nudes and erotic are not new to me. I have shot them, as photographer, for years. I have been shot in one or two, once or twice. This was, none of it, a problem for me: I am not shy.

I'm an avid and devoted Facebooker. I take my Facebooking very seriously. I use the system to be in touch with friends, to network my work as photographer, trainer, Ebayer... I use Facebook to post blogs. I love Facebook and have always been a big supporter. I maintain a real presence there.

On September 11th I had my pics done. I September 12th, I posted them on Facebook, cropping out any penis action AT ALL. The were all cropped at the hip. I was notified that I had posted a photo that violated Facebook terms of use. So I recropped the photos at the belly button and posted them again, declaring my intent to comply with Facebook rules and NOT offend anyone.

Two hours later, Lisa-Gabrielle called me to say 'your Facebook profile is GONE!'

I have been censored.

I am an artist.

I am actually thrilled that I have been censored. I have, long, wanted to be the type of artist who did something that was racy enough to be censored.

Sadly, though, in the process, all my other photos were lost. All my bloggings, gone. All my connections to friends, ended.

I understand Facebook has rules. I don't blame them.

I blame the person who found my photos so offensive that they complained. What kind of person does that? I don't know. I don't want to know. I don't want to give that person any more weight than they already have.

We are working very hard to get the Facebook people to reinstate the profile; and if they do, I will comply be deleting the photos altogether. The connection to my friends and family is what is important. In the meantime, blogger, who has never given me any trouble at all, who has people who blog ANY and EVERYTHING, who will be a better place for me to be an artist, is where I will do my writing.

Welcome back to my world, Blogger. You're like an old friend, a safe haven, where I can be, truly be, myself.

Without censorship.

That being said...

What do youse think of my new photos?
